Three men have been arrested, after an aggravated burglary last Friday, in Kaipara north of Auckland.
Police allege the trio ransacked the Oruawharo property, assaulted the occupants and killed the family dog.
One person was taken to hospital but has since been charged.
The men, aged 27, 29 and 35, were arrested in Kawerau yesterday, after a manhunt spanning the upper North Island.
The trio are due to appear in the Whakatane District Court today charged with aggravated burglary.
All three face charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intentional damage and commission of a crime with a firearm.
Police have not ruled out further arrests and charges.
