The missing boat belonging to the man who fell overboard off the coast of Whangamatā earlier this month has been found washed ashore at Waihau Bay.
The vessel named Betty G was found yesterday - nearly two weeks after the skipper was rescued off the Alderman Islands on January 3rd. He spent nearly 24 hours floating at sea before catching the attention of three fisherman.
A member of the public reported the sighting of the boat to Police at 1:30pm yesterday afternoon.
"The owner has been notified and arrangements are underway to remove the boat from the shore." a Police spokesperson says.
