Concern over lack of local faces on Town Vision Board

Questions are being raised over the appointments of "out-of-towners" to the Whakatane Town Vision Board.

Craig Batchelar, Paula Thompson and John Washburn join previously-appointed chairman Jeff Williams on the Board.

Councillor Tony Bonne is among those concerned that all but one, are from Tauranga.

He says these directors are experts in their field, but the implementation of the town vision should be done locally.

Cr Bonne says they need people with passion to lead the town, but questions how people from outside of Whakatane can be passionate about it.
