Whakatane

Here's what's happening throughout the Whakatane District.

For anyone wishing to donate food to the Kawerau SPCA, the Whakatane drop-off point is Farmlands. Thanks for your support!

 

The Whakatane Market will be held this Thursday 22nd of December and Thursday 29th December from 9am to 3pm at the Whakatane Peace Park, next to the museum. Stalls are limited so book early; there is also a fundraising BBQ on request! Call Iris on (07) 312 5403 and book now!

 

Anyone is Welcome for a cold coin donation at the Mosaic Community Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day at 12pm at the Trident High School Hospitality Suite (follow the signs!) on Arawa Road Whakatane. Please RSVP if you are able to by emailing mosaicwhakatane@gmail.com

 

If you have Christmas Lights on your home and you would like people to know about them, contact Reception at 1xx and we’ll let everyone know!

 

The Whakatane SPCA is selling its fund raising Calendars for only $10. They make excellent Christmas presents and can be purchased at Adamson's Amcal pharmacy in Kope, the Whakatane SPCA or Vets for Pets on Commerce Street. They are also selling Raffle tickets $2 each or 3 for $5. The Whakatane SPCA have been donated some lovely books in excellent condition. You can swap a large can of cat, kitten, dog or puppy food (sorry no budget tins accepted) for a book at the SPCA, open Monday to Saturday 9 to 11.30am .

 

The Whakatane Presbyterian Church will be holding their Christmas Eve Service in Whakatane at Knox Church on Domain Road from 7pm, and at Waimana Church from 10pm. Christmas Day Service in Whakatane will be at Knox Church on Domain Road from 10am and at Ohope Presbyterian Church on Pohutukawa Ave from 9am.

 

The Ngati Pukeko annual whanau touch tournament will be on the 27th December 2011 at Poroporo Park. Registration night is on the 26 December 2011 at the club 6pm onwards. Please register all teams on the night. Any queries please ring the club on 073087332. Registration forms are available from the bar.

 

Past pupils of Whakatane High School’s 1960 Third Form intake (that’s 1961 4th, 1962 5th and 1963 6th form) are invited to attend a reunion on the 14th of January at the school. For more information and registration details write to ralk@xtra.co.nz or phone Barb Keys on 3084258.
